About

Hi there and welcome to samlaunch.com.

My name is Ross and I am the webmaster here. I have been a fan of combat simulation since the days of Gunship 2000 and F19 Stealth Fighter on my 286 PC. Later, I spent a lot of time playing Janes Longbow 2. Recent games I’ve enjoyed playing include Lockon:Flaming Cliffs, Armed Assault, Enemy Engaged Comanche vs. Hokum (modded), Neverwinter Nights (yes, I consider this a combat simulation when you create your own worlds and tweak them realistically). I’m really looking forward to DCS:Blackshark which will simulate combat helicopter operations in the Russian KA-50. My favourite part of simulations is setting up scenarios in the editor, where you see if one force can beat the other (playing in the sandbox as I like to call it). I am also really close to starting a sim pit build, and will be posting the plans and progression on that front.

I am hoping that samlaunch.com will be your source for Modern Combat Simulation news, and a place for you to share your enthusiasm for modern combat sims. Please join the community by commenting on news posts, or submitting your own news that you find around the internet. I own this internet domain for the next 10 years, so we’re not going anywhere soon. Feel free to drop in from time to time, or subscribe to our RSS feeds.

If you are going to submit you own news, here are some guidelines I would like you to follow:

  • please write posts on the topic of modern combat simulation (Vietnam era or later) on PC or console;
  • avoid profanity and trash talk;
  • if you quote something from another site, please show it as a quote, and list the source URL (try not to paraphrase);
  • recommended topics:
    • after action reports (AARs),
    • fan fiction,
    • game reviews or previews,
    • significant game patch info,
    • game mods that increase realism or add new functionality,
    • 5-star videos,
    • DIY simpit tutorials,
    • exceptional 3rd party vehicles/aircraft,
    • scheduled online battle announcements,
    • gaming hardware reviews

If your posting is not accepted, I promise to at least send you a message explaining why, and what could be improved.

If you would rather submit your entry by email, that is ok too. Please send to webmaster@samlaunch.com, with the subject “News Post”.

These guidelines will be updated in the future, please check back often.
